FAQ
With what languages do you work?
I translate mostly from English into French, my first language. I will happily assess requests for other language pairs and recommend another trusted professional if needed.
How much does a translation cost? How about a revision?
It depends on the type of document, which affects the amount of research to be done and the knowledge and time required. For a revision, the amount of time depends directly on the quality of the original text. The more changes that need to be done, the longer it takes, and the more it costs.
Please send your document (or an example of the documents you plan on having translated or revised) to translation@gpoulin.com. I will assess the work to be done and provide a quote.
How long will it take to have my document translated/revised?
It depends. Both the length and the nature of the document influence the amount of time required. For example, a five-word slogan might take longer to translate than a five-paragraph email. Short texts (press releases, PowerPoint presentations) typically take a few hours to a few days, while longer documents (reports, websites) can take up to several days or weeks.
Please send your document (or an example of the documents you plan on having translated or revised) to translation@gpoulin.com. I will assess the work to be done and provide a quote.
Do you take on all types of projects?
No. I will take on your project only if I have the necessary expertise and availability to deliver top quality. If I determine that your documents require a specialization I do not have, I will happily recommend another trusted professional.
That is why I will ask you to send your document (or an example of the documents you plan on having translated or revised) to translation@gpoulin.com before taking on the project.
Do you offer interpretation (oral translation) services?
No. I exclusively translate written documents. If you need an interpreter, I will happily recommend another trusted professional.
Why should I use the services of a professional translator instead of artificial intelligence?
To avoid bad surprises. The past years have brought impressive technological advances to the translation industry, enhancing the toolkit of professional translators. However, entrusting your project to a human AND professional translator is still crucial to getting your message across in a way that is natural and tailored to your audience, and without any error that could affect your reputation or bottom line.
New technologies are useful to translators, but they cannot replace them. Depending on the text, they can help a little, a lot, or not at all. As every project is unique, there is no single recipe for a successful translation. The professional picks the ingredients.
